The Vegas Golden Knights and Anaheim Ducks meet Wednesday in NHL action at the Honda Center.
The Vegas Golden Knights look to keep the puck rolling after winning eight of their last nine games. The Vegas Golden Knights are averaging 3.4 goals per game and are scoring on 19.8 percent of their power play opportunities. James Neal leads Vegas with 17 goals, Jonathan Marchessault has 20 assists and William Karlsson has 71 shots on goal. Defensively, the Vegas Golden Knights are allowing 2.9 goals per game and are killing 78.9 percent of their opponents power plays. Maxime Lagace has given up 49 goals on 383 shots faced and Malcolm Subban has allowed 24 goals on 308 shots. The Vegas Golden Knights have allowed three or less goals in each of their last nine games.
The Anaheim Ducks look for a spark of consistency after splitting their last 10 games. The Anaheim Ducks are averaging 2.7 goals per game and are scoring on 17.6 percent of their power play opportunities. Rickard Rakell leads Anaheim with 10 goals, Corey Perry has 16 assists and Brandon Montour has 77 shots on goal. Defensively, the Anaheim Ducks are allowing 2.8 goals per game and are killing 82.6 percent of their opponents power plays. John Gibson has given up 73 goals on 937 shots faced and Ryan Miller has allowed 20 goals on 276 shots. The Anaheim Ducks have allowed three or more goals in eight of their last 12 games.
The Golden Knights are 5-2 in their last 7 road games, 6-1 in their last 7 games following a win and 4-0 in their last 4 overall. The Ducks are 4-0 in their last 4 games playing on 3 or more days rest, 2-7 in their last 9 vs. Western Conference and 6-13 in their last 19 games following a win. The under is 7-2 in Ducks last 9 overall and the over is 18-7-2 in Golden Knights last 27 overall.
The Vegas Golden Knights have gone from being a team you can't bet against at home to a team you can't fade at all. It may not always be pretty and you may not always be able to explain it, but the Golden Knights are simply winning games at an incredible clip and the confidence is growing with this new group. The Anaheim Ducks haven't been as consistent and continue to struggle big time on the defensive end. Give me Las Vegas.
